How To Green Your Holiday Parties - 5 Quick & Easy Tips

Well yet another holiday season has arrived and you're rushing to get everything ready and in place for your annual holiday party but before you finish that shopping list, here are a few quick and easy tips you can include to make your party a "Green" holiday party and without spoiling all the fun!

1: Buy organic, locally produced food:

You can support your local economy, and the environment as well as provide healthier, more nutritious food choices for your friends and family by buying organic, locally produced foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Delicious yet nutritious and also very tasty foods to make sure you include in your party's menu.

2: Use electronic invitations:

Save paper, trees and stamps by sending out electronic invitations instead such as emails, or evites. It's faster, cheaper and in this information age where just about everyone has a computer, its more efficient and has less of an impact on our environment. However, if you still need to use paper for your invitations, look for invitations made with 100% recycled paper.

3: Use biodegradable dishes and napkins:

Reduce the amount of non-biodegradable plastics and styrofoam waste accumulating in land fills by using biodegradable plates, bowls, cups, cutlery and napkins instead. Or if you have enough dishes to cover the amount of guests you're expecting to have, use real dishes and flatware along with cloth napkins. You'll make your guests feel real special and you can pop those dirty dishes into the dishwasher and the napkins in the washer afterwards and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.

4: Suggest car pooling or public transportation:

Cut down on the gasoline consumption and carbon emissions associated with your party by suggesting a car pool to and from your party for attendees who need to drive or recommend the use of public transportation if its available in your area.

5: Use natural cleaning products:

No doubt there will be plenty of mess and clean up after the festivities are over but you don't have to use harmful, hazardous chemical products to clean up your house, instead you can use natural, biodegradable cleaning products and make it a healthier, safer chore for yourself, your home, and the environment.
