Improving Your Golfing Swings
It looks so easy when watching a professional golfer make the swing. But in reality, it took a lot of hard work and practice to execute it perfectly. The first part to be able to make those great golfing swings will be to practice some drills. This is because just like any other sport, it works on certain fundamentals.
Someone is declared the winner in golf by completing all the holes with the least number of strokes. Each player begins with a tee off and players have to do well here because this will determine how many more strokes it will take to finish the hole.
The motion of the golfing swing starts from the back until it passes to the other side of the body in a follow through motion. This is better known as hitting the block or slicing through and players who fail to do this properly will not be able to let the ball travel very far.
This problem can be addressed by first checking on the grip. The person should not make the mistake of holding this too tight or loose. It should be just right to guide the ball in the proper direction.
Once the hands are checked, the next thing to work on is the position where the player is standing. Those who stand too close or far will not be able to have a good shot. The best way to check this will be to stand up straight in the shape of a square.
Some people are too heavy on one side so looking at the mirror or having someone observe will make sure this is in the correct position at all times.
If these have been corrected, it is time to hit a few balls and see if there are improvements. One drill to check on the golfer's progress is known as the Easy Driver.
Players will go the driving range with the target of hitting the ball over the 150-yard mark. Those who able to do this consistently wont have a hard time in the next tournament.
The ball may miss the hole by a few yards and is stuck in a sand trap and the only way to get out is by making a strong swing. One drill to make sure a good golfing swing is known as the hip turn drill.
People should remember that the strength in this sport does not come from the arms but in the hips. This may look weird to other players but those who are able to do this will be able to get out of anything and finish the hole first.
Another drill often used is called Give No Quarter. The objective is to keep a quarter that is placed on top of the shoe from falling off. Those who successfully do this should do well in the range and the green but those who don't should practice some more.
Grip, posture and balance are the three essential things that every golfer must have to successfully have good golfing swings. Without it, the player will be unable to win.
